What is Tarot?
Tarot is a ancient series of images containing metaphors and stories that have been used for teaching and divination since the time of the ancient Egyptians. It is said that the cards and their images were based on the legendary Book of Thoth, which supposedly belonged to the Egyptian god of wisdom.
Tarot having such a long history stretching across many populations over the past few millennia has made it a staple in most homes that practice divination. They are almost always treated with respect as the knowledge contained is sacred.
When using tarot the reader will place themselves into a receptive state so that as they connect to your energy they can observe and read without bias. A good reader will tell you their intuition as well as the card meaning. Ultimately what you are seeking in a reading is not just a message from the cards but a message from spirit/god/the universe through the reader, it is their lexicon that determines the quality of the reading.
"Divination (from Latin divinare "to foresee, to foretell, to predict, to prophesy ", related to divinus, divine), or "to be inspired by a god", is the attempt to gain insight into a question or situation by way of an occultic, standardized process or ritual." - wiki
How can it help you?
Together we use the images containing metaphors and stories to read the energy in your life. Gaining context for life's issues through metaphor can be a powerful took in understanding and deepening our look into our lives.
We can look at many aspects of life using tarot and a plethora of different spreads based on your inquiry:
- Relationship spread - look at what is between you and another person
- Past, present, "future" spread - a look into what energies you have been experiencing, where your blocks are and how to overcome them
- Year ahead spread - we look at each month and identify potential obstacles and how you can best overcome them
- Questions about business or money
What Tarot is not.
- Tarot is not a fortune telling system, it reads the energy that already exists - what happens to you in your life is up to you and your astrology.
- Tarot is not evil, it is a collection of images containing metaphors and archetypes that tell stories of very human events and emotions. There are no evil entities attached to tarot as it is not a living thing. If you believe tarot is evil, then you must ask yourself what is the nature of evil? Is understanding yourself a bad thing? If everything was created by the divine does that not include what we also create? I am not denying evil, but a tool is only as good or bad as its user. My sole use the tarot for healing and gaining context on deeper issues in order to bring peace to my clients.
- Tarot is not a replacement for medical advice or serious mental health issues. If you are severely struggling with issues it is best to see a trained professional in person.
